Change in the output of the Soviet Union's tanks and aircraft 1930-1940
Over the 1930s, the Soviet Union's armament industry increased its output significantly, with the output of aircraft almost doubling, and tank output increasing by a factor of ten. As the war escalated, overall armament output increased further, by two and a half times between 1940 and 1944. During this period, output of tanks and armored vehicles increased by a factor of seven, while aircraft output increased by a factor of four; this was somewhat offset by the fall in production of consumer products, which made up approximately 40 percent of all industrial output in 1940, but just 20 to 22 percent in 1944.
