G20's public spending on fossil fuels 2013-2022
G20's public support for fossil fuels rose significantly in 2022. Public spending on fossil fuels more than doubled between 2021 and 2022 and is estimated to have reached 1.29 trillion nominal U.S. dollars in the latter year. This was due to government incentives aimed at easing the impact of a surge in energy prices on households.
