Out-of-pocket share of health spending in Latin America 2021, by country
In 2021, Guatemala was the country in the Latin American and Caribbean region with the highest out-of-pocket expenditure as a share of total health expenditure, with 61 percent. Honduras followed, with out-of-pocket health spending from households accounting for 52 percent of the total health expenditure. Meanwhile, Cuba reported the lowest share in the region, with eight percent.
