Freely allocated allowances for EU ETS stationary installations 2024, by country
Germany had the highest volume of freely allocated EU Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS) allowance (EUAs) for stationary installations in 2024, at 125.1 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e). Germany had a share of about 22 percent of EU ETS freely allocated allowances that year. By comparison, France's freely allocated allowances totaled 52 MtCO₂e.
