Electricity supply to the Gaza Strip 2017-2023
Before the outbreak of the Hamas-Israel war on October 7, 2023, the Gaza Strip was supplied with an average of 13 hours of electricity daily and 11 hours of no electricity supply per day. According to the Gaza Electricity Distribution Corporation (GEDCO) reporting until September 2023, an average of 120 megawatts of electricity was supplied by Israeli lines and 72 megawatts by the Gaza Power Plant daily. This left the Gaza Strip with an average daily deficit of 235 megawatts in electricity demand.
