Qatar’s future promise
Given the evolving global landscape and a strategic push for economic diversification, Qatar is creating a course towards a sustainable societal future, steering away from its reliance on oil and natural resource trade. Leading this transformation, the Qatar Tourism Authority has launched campaigns with the goal of drawing in approximately six million visitors annually by 2030, positioning Qatar as the fastest-growing tourist destination in the Middle East. The 2022 FIFA World Cup, which took place in Qatar, provided an incentive for constructing additional hotels to accommodate the event and served as a catalyst to enhance the overall industry's capacity for future expansion. The number of nights spent at five-star hotels in Qatar in 2022 was approximately 4.2 million. Besides being characterized by luxury hotels, the hotel industry in Qatar also has a healthy occupancy rate, listing second in average occupancy rate of branded hotels among Gulf Cooperation Council countries between 1998 and 2019.
