Shape the world of data. Your way.
(Junior) Data Ops Engineer – Market Insights (m/f/d)
At Statista, we’re all about facts and data, for we are the world's leading business data platform.
By providing reliable and easy-to-use data as well as various data analytics products and services,
we empower people worldwide to make fact-based decisions.
Founded in Hamburg in 2007, we have quickly grown into a global company with offices in major cities
such as London, New York, and Tokyo. And we still have a lot of plans. Our constant growth does not
only prove our success, but also keeps creating new development and career opportunities for our
employees.
We value and celebrate our diverse culture. You are welcome here for who you are, no matter where
you come from, what you look like, or whether you prefer bar graphs to pie charts. Your story
matters – keep writing it as part of our team. Are you ready to join us?
What you do
- You will work in the Central Models & Data Operations team that serves the Market Insights product’s analyst teams, primarily by developing and maintaining internal Python-based tools, packages, and data pipelines that enable our analyst teams to source, model and publish relevant data on market sizes, key players, and trends (our stack: Pandas, Scipy, SkLearn, Statsmodels, Streamlit, Dash, and Docker).
- You will support the team and analysts adopting a holistic tool and data stack by identifying improvement potential in our analyst-facing processes, proactively suggesting, and implementing solutions to streamline and speed them up, as well as by directly onboarding and supporting analysts using our tools and data pipelines.
- In addition to scoping and developing tools to streamline analyst-facing processes, you will support other projects of the team and department to develop and maintain data pipelines and databases, as well as support Machine Learning projects, both on premises and in the cloud (AWS) (our stack: SQLAlchemy, Alembic, Airflow, PostgreSQL).
Who you are
- You have successfully completed studies in the fields of data science, economics, social sciences, business administration, mathematics, computer science, operations science, or a related field. We are open to applications from motivated lateral entrants as well.
- You have a good or very good knowledge of Python (especially Pandas, Scipy, SkLearn, Statsmodels) and SQL (we mostly use PostgreSQL). Some prior experience with Polars, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, Airflow, Streamlit, or Dash are nice to have, as is experience with Github, AWS, and Docker. But what is more important is that you like to dig into new topics and learn as you approach new projects. Ideally, you are always on the lookout for novel developments and like to drive the adoption of innovative technologies in our organization.
- You have strong problem-solving skills and show strong ownership of topics and push projects independently. Particularly, you like to analyze and improve processes and engage with our analysts and internal stakeholders to get an understanding of users’ needs and can independently diagnose process improvement potential and proactively suggest solutions.
- You have an ability to describe complicated issues concisely and understandably and can efficiently communicate in writing and in person with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and possess excellent spoken and written English skills.
Who you will be working with
- The Market Insights product as part of the Product Division focuses on offering market size forecasts, market shares of key players, and market trends in more than 1,000 markets across the digital, consumer, health, mobility, and other domains in 190+ geographies worldwide: https://www.statista.com/outlook/
