DALYs caused by mental disorders in Latin America & the Caribbean 2019, by country
In 2019, Brazil was the Latin American country with the highest amount of disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) due to mental disorders in the region, reaching over 2.2 thousand years of healthy life lost to mental health problems per 100,000 population. Guyana, Chile, Paraguay, and Suriname followed, with an estimated over two thousand disability-adjusted life years due to mental disorders. Meanwhile, depressive disorders were the type of mental health condition with the highest DALYs per 100,000 people in Mexico.
