Circulation of the Swedish daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet 2009-2019

From 2008 to 2015, the circulation of the Swedish daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) decreased to roughly 153 thousand copies. From 2016 onwards, it grew again and reached over 171 thousand copies as of 2018. A similar development can be seen in the number of Svenska Dagbladet readers.

The owner of Svenska Dagbladet

Svenska Dagbladet is owned by one of the largest Norwegian media houses, Schibsted Media Group. Aside from SvD, the enterprise also comprises of the Norwegian newspapers Aftenposten and Verdens Gang (VG), as well as the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, amongst others. Additionally, Schibsted operates in other European countries, such as France or Spain, and outside of Europe.

In recent years, the paid circulation of Swedish daily newspapers decreased significantly. As of 2017, it amounted to roughly 1.4 million copies. The publisher with the highest amount of circulation in Sweden is Bonnier. The company’s newspapers reached nearly 600 thousand sold copies in 2015. Mittmedia and Schibsted Sverige came second and third, respectively.
