Road transport-related CO₂ emissions of selected transport modes EU 2021
Passenger cars were the leading source of road transportation-related carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) in the European Union in 2021, representing some 59 percent of the overall carbon dioxide emissions produced by road transportation in the European Union (EU-27). Heavy-duty trucks and buses were ranked second, accounting for around 28 percent of emissions from road transportation. Road transportation was the sector of the transportation industry with the most CO2 emissions that same year.
