The number of movies entering production with a budget higher than 15 million U.S. dollars has soared from 2017 to 2021, reaching a total of 226 movies in 2021. Movies produced with a budget of under one million dollars dropped in 2020 before bouncing back the following year, exceeding even the pre-pandemic figures.
