This statistic displays the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) and the average cost of electricity in the U.S. states that have reached grid parity, as of 2015. During this time, the average cost of electricity in New York stood at 20 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour. In recent years, electricity prices have increased mostly due to increased transmission and distribution investments. The LCOE is calculated by using the average cost to build and operate a power plant divided by its total power output over its lifetime. It is a measure of comparison between different electricity generation methods.
