Amazon deforested area share in Brazil 1988-2023, by state
Between 1988 and 2023, the cumulative deforested area in the Brazilian Amazon surpassed 490 thousand square kilometers, of which around 35 percent occurred in the state of Pará. Mato Grosso had the second highest share of deforestation, at over 31 percent. It was trailed by Rondônia, with roughly 14 percent.
