Out-of-pocket expenditure as share of health spending in Brazil 2010-2021
In 2021, Brazil's out-of-pocket health payments accounted for 23 percent of the country's total health expenditure, down from 25 percent reported two years earlier. This figure decreased by six percentage points compared to 2010, when household out-of-pocket expenditure represented around 29 percent of the total health spending in Brazil. Moreover, the South American nation spent approximately 10 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) on health that same year.
